Meet the buns!

Obi-bun

Sleepy & Looking for Attention
Placeholder for Obi-bun

About Me

White and brown/grey patches. Basically a puppy in a rabbit's body! He's an old soul (8!) who loves to sunbathe and snooze. Looking for someone to give him snacks.

Interests

  • Sleeping in the sun
  • Getting ear rubs
  • Snacking on hay, treats, and anything and everything
  • Being the centre of attention
  • Cuddles

Staying Cool in Summer 🌞

  • Keep the ceiling fan on in the conservatory; the light switch controls the fan
  • Open the living room bay window and conservatory windows for airflow
  • If it's very hot (Uncomfortable for a person), move Obi into the kitchen where it's cooler
  • Place a blanket over Barclay and Sisko's gate so they can't see each other
  • Move Obi's water and litter tray into the kitchen too

Lazy Bunny 🚽

This bunny is a bit lazy and sometimes misses making it to the litter tray.

  • Replace the puppy pads on the chair as needed

Red Flags 🚩

  • Will fight Barclay if given the chance.
  • Can get a poorly tummy if fed too many veggies.
  • Laying in the litter tray or pressing tummy to the ground.
  • Refusing food indicates a problem.

Sisko

Converses with the spirits
Placeholder for Sisko

About Me

Dark brown with streaks of light brown. He's the adventurous type who loves to explore new heights (literally). Not into touching, but might let you stroke his back if you play your cards right. Sometimes he looks like he's seeing ghosts.

Interests

  • Jumping (still working on the landing part)
  • Lurking in the dark
  • Napping whilst looking like a loaf of bread
  • Stomping his feet to express his displeasure (You'll know if you've upset him!)

Red Flags 🚩

  • Likes to nibble on things he shouldn't. Carboard, paper and the carpet in their enclosure is ok but watch out for wires and furniture.

Barclay

Shy but Sweet
Placeholder for Barclay

About Me

Light brown all over. He's energetic in short bursts and will collapse in a flop when he's done. He loves to sleep on his side with his eyes open and make everyone think he's dead. 💀 If you catch him when he's snoozy you can usually get some good pets in.

Interests

  • Running around like a race car
  • Jumping over Sisko
  • Selective petting
  • Giving a gentle nip if he thinks you're in his way

Red Flags 🚩

  • Will fight Obi if given the chance
  • Likes to nibble on things he shouldn't.
    1. Carboard, paper and the carpet in their enclosure is ok but watch out for wires and furniture.
  • He may genuinely look like he's died. Give him a gentle poke and he's usually still with us.

🥕 Feeding Guide

Hay®:

The official snack food of The Reindeer Games

Large handful in each litter tray daily. About the size of 1 bunny

NOTE: They may not have eaten all of yesterday's; just top-up as needed

Greens:

Daily handful of fresh herbs (Each day is portioned out in a tub in the fridge. Split evenly between the 3 buns)

Treats:

Take your pick from the treats jars under the clock in the kitchen. One or two treats per bun per day

Water:

Refresh water bottles as needed.

If the water bowl is dirty clean with dish soap and rinse well

Pellets:

1 level scoop of pellets per bun per day in their bowls.

Use the sound of the pellets to encourage them back into their enclosure just before you leave.

💊 Giving Sisko His Medicine

Sisko currently needs medicine and the best way to give it to him is by hiding it in a lettuce leaf. Follow these steps:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Get 2 lettuce leaves out of the bottom drawer in the fridge
  2. Prepare the medicine dose (0.68ml)
  3. Squirt the dose into one of the lettuce leaves
  4. Feed Sisko the leaf with the medicine
  5. Give Barclay the normal leaf so he doesn't steal Sisko's medicated one
  6. Make sure Sisko has eaten all of the leaf

⚠️ Important Note:

If some medicine spills, that's okay - don't try to give another dose. The important thing is that Sisko gets most of the medicine.

House Information 🏠

Access & Security

  • Keys: Key safe in the garden behind the gate
  • Locking the doors: The front door can be tricky to lock
Lift the handle and turn the key to lock, you may need to pull on the door to get it to lift all the way
  • Internal Doors: Keep Obi's conservatory door open to let heat in. Keep all other doors closed
  • Windows should be closed when you leave the house. If it is hot then leave windows on the security latch (partially open) the conservatory windows can be left open for airflow
  • Enclosure gates: When away, make sure all gates are closed and wedged shut

Gates and Resources

Hay and Litter
Both in grey tubs under the stairs. 1 scoop of litter in each tray, 1 handful of hay in each tray.
Grey tubs under the stairs: left is litter, right is hay.
Gates
Unclip the Barclay and Sisko's gate and move it to cover the entrance to the kitchen. You can wedge it between the bin and the wall.
Obi has plenty of space so doesn't need to go in the kitchen
Obi's gate should be wedged shut. Barclay and Sisko's gate should cover the entrance to the kitchen.

🧽 Cleaning Litter Trays

  1. Pull the whole litter tray liner out and tie it up
  2. Put the tied liner in the black refuse bin outside down the side of the house
  3. If needed, use the cleaning spray and a paper towel to wipe down the litter tray
  4. Add a new liner from the pink box into the litter tray
  5. Fill the bottom of the litter tray with clean litter (Megazorb) - about 2-4 scoops
  6. Add in some fresh hay

☀️ Hot Weather: Moving Obi

If it is very hot in the conservatory, Obi should be moved into the kitchen. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for him!

  1. Move Obi's hay, water, and bed box (the box to the right of the computer) into the kitchen.
  2. Set up Barclay and Sisko's gate as normal to stop Obi from getting into the living room.
  3. Place a blanket over the gate so they can't see each other.
  4. Keep Obi's gate across the conservatory door to stop him from going back in and cooking himself.
Tip: Check the temperature in the conservatory regularly during hot weather. If you feel uncomfortable, Obi will too!

Home Maintenance

  • Heating: Thermostat under the stairs - just under 20°C is comfortable
  • Bins: Every Tuesday morning.Schedule
  • Mail: Place into the letter holder on the window sill by the door
